Cadet
Designed in 1947 expressly
as a one-design racing dinghy for young peo-ple from 8-17 years old, the
Cadet continues to fulfil this purpose, being the RYA approved youth training
boat: some of the best-known sailors of today learnt to race in Cadets.
With a hard-chine pram hull, she was one of the first home-built plywood
dinghies although hulls are now built in grp. The Cadet is sailed in squadrons
within over 23 clubs and there is a full calendar of open events.
